We are excited to be in Cairns and to explore what is called the Far Northern Country of rain forests and the great barrier reef. We'll keep you updated on our comings and goings, but events are likely to slow down as we begin this waiting out of our first cyclone season.
All the best,
Jon and Jennifer

Thanks for the updates and know that a few prayers are in the wind for you and yours. I'm now in Evanston and still casting about for things to do. Cairns is lovely and I'm sure you will do well there especially if you stay out of the casinos.
Hi , I'm a friend of Petra van Duist , we met each other in the virtual world of the real ship Batavia by means of my web site http://www.bataviaphotos.com . If you like to have something maritime historic to read just download my e-book about the Batavia sailing near Sydney in the year 2000 here:
http://www.bataviaphotos.com/batavia-eBook.pdf . password to access the pdf is pelsaert1628. I live 3 hours driving south of Brisbane in Australia. On a large rain-forested property see http://www.paradiseforsale.com.au . Greetings to you all and happy voyages on your beautiful ship !

Jon and Jennifer:
I am a regular reader of your blog and have soaked up every single beautiful word you've shared on your journey. I can hardly find an appropriate way to acknowledge the vastness of the experiences you've had, but decided after a year of reading I decided I must let you know I'm thinking about you, I miss you, and I absolutely treasure the stories you tell. The posting from Nov 12 is especially poignant. Happy holidays to you both and love to all of you. Hug David and Kate. Ingrid
